The article was presented at an international multi-conference where various researchers can demonstrate their findings within different social dimensions and where interdisciplinary discussions enable setting guidelines for further research and business opportunities and government policies within each social segment. The researchers shed light on short- and long-term impact of divorce for children, parental role as a major factor in prevention of negative consequences, and emphasized the outcomes of divorce in cases of violent and conflictual relationships. They highlighted the perception by adult children of divorcees who participated in the study and added meanings to experiencing their parents’ divorce also in the context of violent and conflictual atmosphere preceding divorce. With this, the authors opened an important discussion of a positive role of divorce as an escape route from violent relationships.

COBISS.SI-ID: 7036762Various supportive environments contribute to easier family restructuring. The integration of several approaches in a comprehensive support for people coping with family restructuring enables effective reduction of and coping with emotional distress. The article explains how relational family therapy and family mediation are interwoven, and it opens a significant discussion on types, forms and efficiency of help according to needs, desires and specifics of people in the process of divorce as well as the availability of said help in a society where looking for help is still stigmatized. Presented models of help also positively impact societal welfare; by promoting these models the speed and effectiveness of solving problems accompanying divorce are increasing, consequently lowering the costs of formal divorce procedures as well as indirect costs (use of medication, decrease in productivity, loss of social capital, etc.) prior to, during and after divorce.

COBISS.SI-ID: 7036250At the international scientific conference, where apart from scholars expert practitioners were participating, the article presented the findings of monitoring participants in a support group of divorcees. By means of longitudinal observation of affect regulation, reactions to conflicting states, the types of building relationships, and the role of therapist, the laws of effective healing were analysed. With several case studies the article opened new aspects in understanding emotional interaction in support groups; according to the target group, it promoted searching for help either in therapy or in a support group for the divorced. The findings represent a significant initiative for other researchers who have started to work with these groups that have a great potential in Slovenia: the demand for this type of psycho-social help for divorced individuals is increasing, and there are visible positive effects of groups on life quality of divorced persons, and lower direct and indirect costs for individuals, society and economy.
