The present collection contains the program and abstracts from one of the two international biennial conferences of the Specific Topics in Chinese Studies (STCS), organized by the program group in the last research period (http://as.ff.uni-lj.si/node/476 , http://as.ff.uni-lj.si/stcs ). In addition to these two STCS conferences, members of the research program group also organized a number of other conferences and symposiums in the fields of Chinese, Japanese and Korean studies, in the general field of Asian studies and in the field of the methodology of intercultural research. All these conferences and other scientific meetings are recorded on the website of the Department of Asian Studies and accessible under the following link: http://as.ff.uni-lj.si/projects/znanstvena-srecanja . The organization of the 14th International Conference of the European Association for Japanese Studies (EASJ), which is the largest academic organization for Japanese studies in Europe and one of the largest in the world, is particularly worthy of mention among the organizations of these scientific meetings. This conference hosted about thousand participants from Europe, Asia and the USA. It was organized in 2014 by members of the Japanese studies section of the program group. (http://as.ff.uni-lj.si/eajs ) The exceptional success of this conference was also shown two years later when its main organizer Andrej Bekeš, who is also the head of the chair of Japanese studies at the Department of Asian Studies and a member of the research program group, was elected as the new President of this most important European academic association for Japanese studies.

COBISS.SI-ID: 59174498In the last period of the research work (2014-2018), the leader and members of the program group have established the EARL (East Asian Resource Library) (https://www.fdv.uni-lj.si/knjiznica/earl/sedez-earl ) together with the team of researchers from the Faculty of Social Sciences. The library is part of the East Asia Research Center and represents the central repository for printed and digital resources from East Asia. The basic task of EARL is to establish a wide network of institutions and resources from East Asia. This network will continuously contribute to scientific and professional expertizes by providing literature and other study materials (electronic databases, digitized material), and thus promoting the understanding between these regions, especially regarding their academic public as well as students and faculties. EARL ensures a wide availability of resources and services and the promotion of partners and other institutions linked to East Asia. In the framework of the EARL, we organize various public events (lectures, presentations, round tables), focusing on topics important for our international partners as well as for the Slovenian public. Currently, EARL encompasses four departments: the Korean Department, the Japanese Department, the Taiwan Research Center for Sinology, and China's Reading department. In addition, within the program group at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, two research centers have been established in the field of research related to Taiwanese and Korean studies: (http://www.tajvan.si/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=27 , https://koreanistika.splet.arnes.si/ ).
