This article firstly proposes a classification of the current economic and religious debate, and then discusses the relationship between religion and neoliberalism as the pre-eminent contemporary political and economic paradigm. An investigation follows of the economic orientations of Slovenians with regard to their expressed faith or non-belief as evident in the findings of the World Values Survey. Compared to the nation's non-religious and atheist population, religious Slovenians tend to reject neoliberal values and are more favourably predisposed to socialist ones. Such an orientation has, in general, been more strongly expressed since the onset of the economic crisis in 2008. A regression analysis reveals that this is less a consequence of religious belief, but of the specific socioeconomic characteristics of religious Slovenians.

COBISS.SI-ID: 33418077The following paper opens the issue of effective anti-racism teaching in in everyday contexts, where the traditional forms of racism are replaced by more 'sophisticated, subtle practices of exclusion, hatred and violence. Historical connotations of terms such as racism, xenophobia, homophobia , etc. specifically characterized certain groups of people and somehow deepen further divisions between hegemonic majority and oppressed minority; therefore several indicators of inefficiency in teaching of anti-racism has appeared, particularly in applying theories into practices. Teaching anti-racism is presented through new attitudes of performative pedagogy, for a long time understood in the context of a teacher as the actor, who engage his/her students as spectators through variety of acting techniques and performative practices. Along to the theoretical and applied development of the field, more and more the performative pedagogy is recognized as critical teaching approach, based on artistic expression, improvisation, continuous dialogue and the body as ideologically inscribed product.

COBISS.SI-ID: 33460573As the trend of using prescription pharmaceuticals to enhance cognitive abilities among healthy adults has increasingly come to the attention of scientists, academics, journalists and pundits over the last decade, much has been written and said about its neurophysiological effects, ethics, usage, as well as the sociopolitical implications. Still, few of the studies showed consistent or significant enhancement effects among healthy subjects. Recently, an overview article of 24 robust studies on the enhancement effects of modafinil on healthy adults concluded that the drug shows consistent enhancement of attention, executive functions and learning in healthy subjects without significant adverse side effects. The first part of the paper provides a brief look at the concept of pharmaceutical cognitive enhancement (PCE) and of some of the effects of popular PCE drugs, finally focusing on modafinil as an apparently efficient and safe cognitive enhancer. The second part provides a brief overview of the public policy recommendations given in the scientific and expert literature on dealing with the trend of PCE use in light of the existence of efficient and safe cognitive enhancers. As PCE becomes increasingly tangible and popular, this is an issue that modern societies will sooner or later have to confront in a rational and informed manner.
