The book encompasses actual state of the art and authors’ contribution to the field of electrical drives. It covers the area of basic mechanical equations, general vector theory and description of operation and control of drives with DC, induction and synchronous drives, with additional description of control approaches and their implementation to microcomputers. In the second part, elements and operation of converter circuits, together with sensors of physical quantities, required for proper operation of the drive, are described.

COBISS.SI-ID: 8726789Excellent in Science: recognition by ARRS for 2016 Electrical drives are getting more and more complicated due to increasing demands on reliable operation. Faults in electrical drives can arise inside the machines, in sensors, and in control electronics, but they mostly occur in power supply converter circuits. Members of the research programme have developed a method for very fast (few milliseconds) detection of faults in power converter. Unlike some others more complicated methods, the proposed procedure runs in real time on already existing control electronic devices, without any additional hardware. Hence, it can be applied also to low cost drives. At the same time, a control approach that enables almost unaltered operation of the drive immediately after the fault has been developed. The accomplishment has been presented in a highest ranking journal within its area: KONTARČEK, Andraž, BAJEC, Primož, NEMEC, Mitja, AMBROŽIČ, Vanja, NEDELJKOVIĆ, David. Cost-effective three-phase PMSM drive tolerant to open-phase fault. IEEE transactions on industrial electronics, Nov. 2015, vol. 62, no. 11, str. 6708-6718 [COBISS.SI-ID 11176276]

Vratislav Bedjanič award for master thesis: The thesis deals with reactors installed inside power transformer. Two known types of reactors are analysed in terms of short circuit behaviour and electrical characteristics. A new type of reactor is presented and analysed. Comparison between new and existing types of reactors is presented together with detailed analysis of magnetic field and inductivity. Benefit for new types is more efficiently used material. Calculation of reactor basic electrical parameters is presented. All three types of reactors are analysed in order to present benefits and drawbacks for all three reactor types.
