On the third stakeholder meeting (2016) members of the project group presented preliminary research findings from the ongoing project (Fink Hafner, Hafner Fink, Lajh, Novak, Kroneger, Železnik). There were 1203 interest groups identified at the national level. A web survey with standardised internationally comparable questionnaire was conducted between October 2015 and February 2016. 36,5% of the organisations completed the questionnaire. Although Slovenia is a small European country, the number of associations and interest groups per capita is one of the largest. In the international comparison there are three features that can be found in Slovenia: its historical experiences with the socialist political system, an important role of civil society in the transition to democracy and the role of economic interest groups (particularly trade unions) in the new political system as relatively strong organisations.

COBISS.SI-ID: 33357405Report accurately summarises the steps in the process of implementation of an online survey among national interest groups in Slovenia. It includes all the invitations and reminders that were sent to the respondents invited to participate in the survey. COBISS.SI-ID: 33903197Report presents a synthetic overview of open issues and preliminary ideas for dealing with these issues, which have developed in the course of three stakeholder meetings with researchers of the Centre for Political Science Research, Faculty of Social Sciences of the University from December 2013 to May 2015. Stakeholders from the executive and legislative authorities in Slovenia, Slovenian representatives in some of the EU institutions and representatives of economic and non-governmental interests participated at these meetings. In the report, among others, we find that Slovenian coordination of EU affairs takes place predominantly at the bureaucratic level, where also positions on EU legislative proposals are formed. Positions often summarise the Commission's proposal and mainly also result from the Commission's proposal. The political level of coordination and view of domestic politicians, particularly the parliamentarians, is missing.
