Report presents and interprets climatic and (micro)biological monitoring that was performed in both cave systems in 2013. From the viewpoint of postdoc project, climatic monitoring was crucial and subject of collaboration on the field of cave air concentration that was compared with equilibrium CO2 concentration in drip water and in the underground Pivka River. Comparison showed direction and intensity of CO2 fluxes (from water into the cave air or vice versa) that was dubious especially for the Pivka River. Even more, equilibrium CO2 concentration in drip water reflect CO2 concentration in epikarst zone, which influences intensity and way of karstification in epikarst zone and CO2 flux from epikarst zone. Monitoring of equilibrium CO2 concentration in drip water will be useful in the near future for the quantitative determination of anthropogenic impact on speleothem formation (growth of dripstones) related to touristic use of Postojna cave system.
