The chants of the Carthusian tradition, when seen in the time of their relatively stable liturgy (between the ends of the 13th and 15th centuries), differ much from other traditions. The main reason for that are specific Carthusian text versions which try to approach to the original Bible texts. But what about music? How were the musical phrases adapted and reshaped when the texts were changed for the Carthusians? The paper presents some ideas on this process on the basis of comparison of the selected responsories from some Carthusian and some Aquitanian antiphoners.
