In this paper, which ranks to A2, the response of Douglas-fir wood in transverse compressive loading in saturated steam environment was studied and compared with the response of hybrid poplar. In the paper it has been demonstrated that even in saturated steam environment response of Doglazije-fir in transverse compression follows a typical stress-strain curve. This curve is, however, differs from stres strain curve, which is typical for hybrid poplar, which is due to the different structure of the wood.

In this paper, which ranks to A1, the microstructure of densified wood was studied for the first time by using micro-tomography. The results confirmed the hypothesis that the anatomical structure of densified wood can be described by pore size distribution, which is dependent on the degree of densification and wood species, which is densified with the hydro-thermo mechanical processing of wood.

In this article, which rangs to A1, the hardness and density profile of the surface densified and thermally modified wood was studied. The results showed that the hardness depends on the degree of densification and that thermal treatment of surface densified wood due to mass loss reduces the hardness of surface densified wood.
