Junior Euromat is major event for young materials scientist in Europe. While young researchers (PhD students and post-docs) are important members of our research group, they were participated in the event by a poster explaining the importance of thermochromic composites as a class of smart materials. The subject was accepted for participation and well presented to the community. The 6'-(diethylamino)-1',2'-benzofluoran dye-based composites were presented and the influence of two possible developers on structural and optical properties of the composites were shown. The study confirms that TC composites with acceptable lightfastness could be prepared using both developers.
B.03 Paper at an international scientific conference
COBISS.SI-ID: 5533722The FPS COST Action FP1104 (New possibilities for print media and packaging - combining print with digital) chaired by Dr Anu Seisto (VTT Finland) was organizing summer school for young researchers entitled »Science and engineering of printable electronics«. The lectures were the member of the COST and the students were coming from EU member countries. The lectures and workshops covered all practical aspects of printable electronics and were given by the expert on the field. The cited lecture covered the analytical methods needed to develop a good printable electronics device. Several practical examples were shown.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5582106PHACTI: Phase Change Chromogenic Materials for Intelligent Temperature Indicators Intelligent temperature indicator offers simply recognizable information on the current temperature and/or thermal history of the product. Combination of phase- and color change of active material with suitable holder allows tracking temperature of the product in the past for certain time and within wide temperature region. The solution is in preparation of reversible and irreversible indicators to record exceeding defined temperature and time spend at such conditions. The feasible products are suitable for indication of food freshness / safety. No power supply is required; the product is environmentally friendly and food-safe. The proposed communication tool shows the thermal changes of the object/product in a clearly visible and easily recognizable way and is suitable for combination with electronic sensing tools. The core of the proposed solution are phase changeable chromogenic materials, combined with appropriate holder. It represents the potential candidate for future and emerging technologies in information and communication technologies. The work was contributed to the regional networking of young researchers (at most 6 years after their PhD), training and brainstorming, called Lab Surfing workshops in the scope of the new FP7/FET EYE (Empowering Young Explorers) project. The workshop offer young researchers a unique opportunity to learn about the most advanced future and emerging technology (FET) research, brainstorm about future research areas, jointly elaborate new high risk scientific ideas, partner with peers, and also develop scientific administration and leadership skills. Our researcher was participatied at Belgrade event with Phase Change Chromogenic Materials for Intelligent Temperature Indicators (PHACTI). The application possibilities of the smart material and its iontegration within FET, especialy IT, was discussed wit other researchers on the area.
