The paper focuses on the Fraternity of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in the cathedral of Ljubljana, especially on their fraternity statue, which brought a new iconographical type of French origin into Slovenian art of the 19th century. Based on the key statues of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in the territory of Slovenia, their typology is presented as well.

They focus on medieval confraternities, questions of confraternities’ role as patrons, and Marian iconography of the major confraternities in the Baroque period. The interdisciplinary character of the project is reflected in the contributions that tackle confraternities from the perspective of general, church and literary history. The project has importantly increased awareness of these research themes in Slovenian art history, and has encouraged further research also in other fields of humanities.
