Organization of international symposium on popularity, responses and wider impact of popular music from former Yugoslavia with participation of the majority of members of the project research team. At the symposium, the presenters discussed various aspects of popularity and impact of popular music production from former Yugoslavia, e.g., among the present-day performers of partisan songs (Ana Hofman), on popularity of Yugoslav and post-Yugoslav popular music in former socialist countries, especially in Poland (Rajko Muršič), etc. Participants from the countries of former Yugoslavia contributed new knowledge on the development of the common popular culture in former Yugoslavia, taking into account its obvious regional differences.

Reports from the symposium were presented and published in leading Slovene media (RTV Slovenija, Radio Študent, Dnevnik, Delo …).

Ana Hofman presented politically engaged choirs from former Yugoslavia; Fatima Hadžić presented modern revitalization of sevdalinka and ethnic music in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Amra Toska presented modern production of popular music in Bosnia and Herzegovina, from alternative music to sevdalinka; Rajko Muršič presented some similarities and differences in cooperation among Bosnian and Slovenian performers of popular music.
