The paper deals with the politics of memory between the two world wars. It analyzes the methods and the processes in erecting monuments and memorials by the Fascist authorities in Trieste and the Littoral region. It deals especially with the cultural landscape of the city of Trieste, where from the mid-1920's and in the 1930's the "Lighthouse of Victory", the memorial park to the Fallen in World War I and other memorials have been erected and the citiyscape reshaped in Fascist style. It analyzes also other locations and special emphasis is dedicated to the monument to Nazario Sauro built in Koper in 1935. On the basis of archival and other materials the paper shows the complex politics of memory imposed by the fascist regime.
