Within the project group Ivna Kavre finished her PhD under the supervision of D. Babič in 2014. Her work focused on fabrication and experiments with non-spherical colloidal particles. Among others she produced microgears consisting of magnetic PDMS for use in microfluidic applications, whose parameters were optimized within the frame of this project. Additionally, she used ellipsoidal particles that exert autonomous oscillations in a focused laser beam to study the hydrodynamic interactions between particles, which can serve as a model system for biological cilia. Her doctoral training was covered by EU funds (ITN Marie Curie).
