The paper presents the results of the revitalization of old industrial areas in South East Europe based on a holistic approach. The obtained results and research findings in the context of international project Revitalization of Traditional Industrial Areas (ReTInA), we came to the conclusion that the countries in transition, especially in South-Eastern Europe, which developed in different socio-economic systems did not respond on time to economic changes. One of the reasons for that is the shortage of human resources. The new development paradigm of the economy is based on a holistic approach. The main aim and objective of the project was to develop a method of revitalization of old industrial zones in South Eastern Europe. The model is based on the results of the analysis of best practices and case studies of local and regional stakeholders. The long-term goal of the project was the revitalization of the old industrial zones with the aim of providing new jobs while ensuring sustainable development and the creation of synergies between quality of life and social security included in the project sites. With the implementation of the project results have reached a key objective of the research group that was the process of the revitalization of industrial areas understood as a sustainable and social responsibility, based on developing a sustainable relationship with the environment and on the willingness of local communities for the long-term investments in the future. By identifying and defining the priorities of local resources, such as cultural, historical, social, and ecological values we identify the identity of local environment, that serves us in planning of the revitalization of degraded areas.

The monograph deals with the problem of emigration during the inter-wars period (1918–1941) from the then Venezia Giulia. The monograph brings innovations especially in the approach, which tackles the problem: instead of dealing with the problem from established perspectives, where the Slovene emigration of that time is interpreted exclusively as an escape from fascist repression and economic slowdown of the region. The author pays special attention to the causes of emigration at the level of village communities as well as at the level of functioning of families and households affected by the decision to leave home. To study the process of decision making on emigration by individuals, the author used the emigrant correspondence and interviews. The author took into account both sides of the experience, emigration from home as well as immigration and integration into Argentine society. The author has always tried to distance himself from the rigid models of the interpretation of migration; i.e. he stressed the atypical reasons to explain the departure, and importance of subjective factors and their mutual ties at the level of kinship and village communities, when he explained the integration into Argentine society.
