The provincial museum of Carniola suffered because of the consequences of the First World. The governmental financing system changed, some of the employees had to join the Austrian army, and there was a significant lack of funds and material. After the war, Museum had to establish a new status. One of the problems was the sequestered property.

COBISS.SI-ID: 8942176The results of archaeological excavations of several locations in the very centre of Ljubljana conducted in the last few decades have significantly upgraded our knowledge about the remote past of this area, providing an insight into the developments at the end of prehistory and in the early Roman era. This article focuses on the chronology of the newly discovered remains of a multi-phase military base situated between Castle Hill (Grajski grič) and the Ljubljanica River at Prule (Tribuna), and the remains of a walled town on the left bank of the Ljubljanica (the Šumi site), including the deposits originating from the time before, during and immediately after its construction.

COBISS.SI-ID: 8985440During the research into the arms and armour collection of the National Museum of Slovenia in recent years, much attention has been devoted to the provenance of particular objects and the role of private collectors in the Slovenian lands throughout the second half of the 19th and first half of the 20th c. As the subject remains almost unknown to the general public it was presented to a wide readership with a publication in a prominent popular science magazine.

COBISS.SI-ID: 8874080In the last decennia the field of scientific analytical methods grew substantially. Unfortunately, it seems that they reach only a very limited number of scientists and curators. So the results of expensive procedures, financed from public sources are lost. In our project proposal that we are currently working at with foreign partners, we propose a new digital tool for dissemination of the results of movable cultural heritage analysis.
