Slovenia has experienced above-average growth in tourism during the most recent period. But despite longterm trends showing growth, important differences among particular tourism markets can be observed. Slovenia is becoming less dependent on domestic tourists and those from neighboring countries, while the share of tourists coming from more distant countries and even from other continents is growing. The present monograph has brought a range of findings that help us even today to better understand the past as well as current situation. At the same time it has shown that tourism and recreation must not be examined only (or chiefly) from an economic standpoint but that we must also consider the spatial implications of their development and their importance for the quality of life.
