An innovative guide to sustainable education teachers in elementary schools. Shift from conventional to sustainable mobility is very important step, which still has to be done to achieve sustainable paradigm of today’s society. One of the reasons for today’s pattern of mobility in Slovenia, which is more or less conventional, is that teaching system in primary and secondary schoolsstill doesn’t recognize sustainable mobility as an important pillar of whole sustainability. Many teachers, who teach sustainable development in schools, have not enough theoretical knowledge about sustainable mobility, about methods how to explain it and also about the good practice examples. This was the main reason, why we decided to prepare a teaching book about sustainable mobility for teachers of primary schools.

COBISS.SI-ID: 267815424Presented study determines agriculture sustainability indexes (ASI) for 16 European countries, including Slovenia, in 2007. In the monograph we suggest an empirical model for continuous quantitative monitoring and evaluation of agriculture sustainability in Slovenia or/and in other EU countries. Measuring sustainability with indicators and their aggregation into index was used by several researchers, where authors attempted to fulfill a gap, which refers to a comprehensive, interdisciplinary research of the state and policy in the field of sustainable development of agriculture.

COBISS.SI-ID: 270257152Mentoring young professionals at all levels of education is one of the key missions of researchers. Substantively very innovative thesis deals with the use of geographical information systems (GIS) to determine the natural landscape types. Compared to traditional natural-typization this one much more in detail analyzes specific (spatial) geographical areas allowing its greater usefulness for planning of sustainable land use. In addition to this work, we have been mentoring 3 doctoral students in 2013.

The main goal of »Cultural geography«, a university textbook, is to enlarge the understanding of broadness and complexity of recent world population, by following the principle from global to local context, i.e. from civilizations trough religious-, linguistic- and ethnic phenomenon to national (state)-organizations and finally to social stratification. Contemporary cultural landscapes are the cumulated results of these social coherences trough times, and, by the same time, represent the common circumstances of today’s societies: their spatial capital. In order to understand the recent social development potentials, it’s necessary to know their genesis, structure, functionalization and co-dependency on global and local level. When thinking about the realization of sustainable development of Slovenia, there is of a crucial importance to recognize the cultural landscape potentials (or spatial potentials) as well as to understand their social (human) potentials. The book is enabling the comprehension of world’s cultural diversity and Slovene position inside; all in order to input some good practices into Slovenian scene.
