This chapter examines the effects of changed social relations during the period of transition on the extent and structure of trust among young people in Slovenia . We proceed from the assumption that a high level of generalised trust is of crucial importance in motivating young people for participation and civility. Yet at the same time we find a low level of generalised trust among young people in Slovenia and a contraction of trust confined to people from the personal sphere. We discuss the negative consequences that/which these circumstances have on the ability of young people to cope with the hyper-complex social conditions of the modern world and for their social and political citizenship.

COBISS.SI-ID: 31889757The book is a result of an on-going research process in the field of poverty and the welfare state. Activities to transfer knowledge into the practice were part of the research process and were also organised after the research finished. The research lead, Vesna Leskošek, was involved in many dissemination activities that are included into the COBISS database under the codes: COBISS.SI-ID 266611968, COBISS.SI-ID 32446813, COBISS.SI-ID 266611968, COBISS.SI-ID 266611968, [COBISS.SI-ID 266611968, COBISS.SI-ID 4035941, COBISS.SI-ID 4088677, COBISS.SI-ID 4088677. The concrete socio-economic achievement is also the cooperation with trade unions in framing proposals and suggestion for the improvement of legislation, policy measures and further research in the field of in-work poverty in Slovenia.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 270797056In suggested special issue we aim to question and further interpret the reported suggestion that the health inequities in Slovenia are rather small in comparison with the other EU countries. Our hypothesis is that the transition to a neoliberal market society, which is based on the market efficiency, affects and worsens the position of women. However, this worsened position is not reflected yet in the classical medical indicators. If we want to detect inequalities, we will have to take into account indirect indicators, such as self-evaluation of health, accessibility of the health system, perception of quality of life.
F.30 Professional assessment of the situation
COBISS.SI-ID: 2858213The report is based on empirical data from a series of sub-projects carried out in the eight countries participating in GOETE: Germany, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia and the UK. The regulation of access and the experience of accessibility to and within education is linked to questions of social inequality. The ways in which children and young people cope with education is linked to formal and informal support they receive and can mobilise; and finally the relevance that different actors ascribe to education in relation to life course and biography. In this report the focus is placed on the ways of institutional regulations, individual experiences and interactive decision-making with regard to transitions.

The purpose of the monograph is to present the public the results of our analysis on the position of women in science and also the position of science in contemporary Slovenian society. Typical of this position as shown by our analysis is that management of science takes place within the dominant neoliberal social paradigm. Such management of science is turning the science into an asset for the acquisition and preservation of social power, which is in favour of those who are already socially privileged. In such reforming, especially the situation of those, who have no power and positions in the new structure, is worsening; especially for women and young scientists. They are increasingly exposed to various forms of flexibility of labour, precarious employment and part-time work in science. The precariousness of work is reflected in the low level of job security, low level of control over working conditions, in dependence on the will of superiors. We have presented research results on the position of women in science to professional and lay public in the Consultation on 7th March 2013 (COBISS.SI-ID 31889245], and in the annual conference of the Slovenian Sociological Association (COBISS.SI-ID 32311901).
