Process bases on the infiltration of metal melt in the pores of ceramic foam. Method of casting, sizing of mould, preheating of ceramic foam or mould, pouring temperature, use of insulating cover and vibrating enable complete filing the pores with metal. For manufacturing of composite plates the gravity casting and vibrating of total system during casting and solidification is used. Such composite plates are used in automotive, aircraft and military industry because composite plates have good mechanical properties, high break-through strength at low density and resistance to cutting.
F.32 International patent
COBISS.SI-ID: 17146902The problem of production of gradient castings has been addressed. The technology of production is a combination of the horizontal centrifugal casting of alloyed white cast iron (two sequences) and gravity casting of cores which occurs in third sequence. Working layer of the roll is made from chromium alloyed white cast iron. The core is made by spheroidal graphite cast iron (SGI). The main focus was on intermediate layer, which is made from flake graphite cast iron. Using numerical simulations the density of each microstructural constituent was determined. It was found that austenite and M7C3 type of carbides have difference in density for approximately 0,3 kg/dm3 which influences on the distribution of microstructural constituents in roll cross-section due to centrifugal forces.

COBISS.SI-ID: 273093888Nowadays many of companies are founded in order to develop and produce reference etalons for metal manufacturing. Research work is present one way of producing reference etalon by gravity casting in permanent molds with unidirectional solidification of crystals in vertical direction. Samples for investigations were taken from casting on place near interface between casting and cooled coper die. Samples were metallographically and chemically analyzed. It was found that samples, which were casted on a liquid nitrogen cooled coper plate, had more homogenous microstructure and were appropriate for further use and application.
