In order to introduce a traceability chain into metrology computation, European project EMRP NEW 06 TraCIM was agreed between EC and European metrology association Euramet. One of the tasks of the project is also to establish random datasets and validation algorithms for verifying software applications for evaluating interlaboratory comparison results. Complex statistical analysis is normally performed by using different software applications. In order to check the performance of those applications, we have developed validation software, which consists of a user interface, data generator and a module for calculating all standardised statistical quantities used for evaluating interlaboratory comparison results. The article is presenting our approach for verifying the validation software based on simulating different cases of interlaboratory comparisons and on comparing results of statistical calculations between different SW packages like Wolfram Mathematica and Microsoft Excel.

Proposed is a novel approach to fixture layout design. The contact interface between workpiece and fixture is reduced to a single workpiece surface. This allows reliable machining of the remaining five workpiece surfaces in a single setup. Workpiece clamping is performed by inserting special conical elements into prepared auxiliary openings on the workpiece. Shallow indenting is performed on surfaces which have no practical function. Special device was designed to allow experimental investigation. Experimental results point towards the efficiency of the proposed approach. Workpiece displacements were small during machining (approx. 0.01 mm) and allowed the required machining accuracy. Furthermore, the results obtained during machining indicate high surface quality.

This paper investigates the competitive and cooperative behaviour of firms within an industrial cluster. The theory suggests that industrial clusters are a playground where even competitors cooperate on specific issues. It is for this reason that we have made clear distinctions between different technology areas within industrial clusters and present when and where cooperation between firms occurs. This research suggests that distinctions between key supporting and new/emerging technologies are of extreme relevance. Firms show reluctance to cooperate in the joint development of key technologies, especially when those key technologies are similar and thus they compete regarding similar products. No such reluctance can be observed when new and emerging technologies are considered. The cooperation mechanism also prevails in the cases of supporting technologies that are common to other cluster members.

This article presents the concept of a generic model for managing changes. Based on simulation, this model will support the management of small and medium sized enterprises in detecting problems, defining solutions and implementing necessary changes in business processes. With the developed model a simulation of changes in balance sheet data for sales and the profit achieved was carried out, the goal of increasing sales defined and the limits set. The model offered seven opportunities which have all been commented on appropriately. By utilising this model, a static company changes into a dynamic one capable of quick restructuring whenever necessary. The purpose or employability of the model developed is that essentially every manager can define and implement the right measures, based on selected indicators and parameters, and create an added value for the company regardless of the company’s current state and situation. Basic indicators or parameters are at the user’s disposal and simulate typical business events, on which basis the user can identify the state of the company. Emphasis is given to the definition or analysis of the state, the life cycle of the company and the identification, as well as the urgent solving, of pathological problems.

Among the answers to the new challenges of contemporary environment, cooperation between those who implement development in public administration at state, local and regional levels is increasingly highlighted. Surprisingly, the role of cooperation in developing projects and the maturity of public administrations’ project management organizations for accelerating the development of municipalities have not been researched until now. This study confirms that project cooperation between Slovenian municipalities promotes the municipalities’ orientation for achieving development through projects, and their management awareness of the importance of fundamental managerial functions and other project management concepts and techniques for the successful achievement of development goals.
