Opening of the exhibition "Lessons on timber construction" took place on 24th of January 2013 in the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia in Ljubljana. The exhibition presented the results of study workshops in the field of timber construction, which have been implemented as interdisciplinary projects of the Chair of architecture and the Chair of building structures, Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Maribor. The main aim of the exhibition was to present the possible teamwork approaches through integration of students of architecture and students of civil engineering, which was guided by academic and professional mentors. Additionally, it showed the direct implementation of the latest research results into practice by combination of timber and glass, which were previously neglected as construction materials. With suitable technological development and appropriate use, they are nowadays becoming increasingly important materials in contemporary construction. Exhibited workshop projects are the following: - "View of the city - Workshop Wooden lookout towers" - "Energy-efficient wooden buildings - Podlehnik" - "Development of passive residential houses Marles" Presented workshops vary significantly from each other, demonstrating completely different designs, from the wooden lookout towers and multi-purpose municipal buildings to the latest trends in the design of prefabricated single-family houses. The exhibition was financially supported by the Association of wood and furniture industry of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce.

COBISS.SI-ID: 16611094Motorways closures or narrowing of the carriageways are the result of urgent maintenance works (resurfacing, mowing grass, changing of security barriers, signposting, traffic signs, road marking ...). The fact is that all this work should be done under traffic loads and in the ''ideal time'', when traffic loads are smallest. The duration of motorway closure depends on the type of renovation work. The fact is that each motorway closure results in congestions and queues and cause a loss of time and wasting of fuel of participants. This situation leads to disagreements and accusations. In fact, at the moment there are several motorway closures due to renovation work, which caused accusations of end-users.
F.30 Professional assessment of the situation
COBISS.SI-ID: 18113558Constantly search for the best ideas on the various levels of us encourage to cooperation companies and universities, in order to bring together the experience and practical knowledge with theoretical research. In the search for answers to today the classic questions of modern construction with the wood we wanted to make a step further and draw the starting point for the development of the house in which we lived the year 2030. Development project of the House of 2030, therefore, contemplates the future mode of your stay. The starting point of the design of the house of the future, especially considering the life-style of modern man, extended in a number of sociological fields. The house should therefore represent the shelter, while at the same time offer a healthy living environment and the simple but functional solutions, the use of the house. And, of course, be friendly to the environment. Through theoretical and practical workshops we together with the students analyze the proven solutions of modern construction with wood, upgrade them with the latest technologies, and added the innovative solutions of the future. The students are the inspiration for a different or new options looking for a wide, view examples from the practices of the construction in wood, as well as check the latest architectural guidelines and respect the natural legality of timber as a basic construction material. On the basis of a concrete location, it was in the real environment placed six different houses. Each of them in a unique way illuminates the themes that are important for the comfort of the stay in each period of life. So they have created an extremely interesting design modern of wooden houses. With viable conception, bold shapes and with a carefully thought-out details have already today applied in reality.

COBISS.SI-ID: 19227158As a follow up to the mobile ‘Woodbox’ exhibitions in Zagreb and Ljubljana, where the Austrian timber association pro:Holz noticed the interest of young people in building with wood but the lack of knowledge and tools for multidisciplinary education, they initiated an international and interdisciplinary workshop: a master class for students of architecture and civil engineering. With the selected master class students they wanted to raise awareness for wood as a modern building material among young future experts and establish good relationships between experts, companies and universities. In the spring semester the first master class in Croatia and Slovenia was organized. The main topics were modularity and renewal plus enlargement with CLT modular elements. Under the professional guidance the students were split up in interdisciplinary groups and designed concepts for upgrading and renovating a school built in the 1970s in the urban area of Graz. At the end of the workshop they presented their final works to the public and to representatives of the Slovenian and Croatian wood industry.
