The main idea during development of the decision support model for management of low quality wood (for energy purposes) was rational spatial planning of new investments. The developed methodology for spatial implementation of technologies based on calculation of raw material transport cost is beneficial for several stakeholders. Special attention was therefore paid to geographical information systems (GIS) which offer helpful decision-support tools for planning of optimal solutions.
F.14 Improvements to existing production methods and tools or processes
COBISS.SI-ID: 4019622Understanding real and planned potentials of wood available for wood industry is an important information’s for further development of wood industry. This data are important for further development of existing industries, for new projects and for planners when planning new plants. Data are important also for security of wood supply.
F.01 Acquisition of new practical knowledge, information and skills
COBISS.SI-ID: 4033702One of the goals of the PER-LES project was also the description and selection of most perceptive production chains. After the selection of most relevant production chains a logical spatial implementation based on predefined parameters and limitations was performed. In the study, the most relevant felling and transport technologies of round wood are presented. Also the technologies of sawn wood production are presented for softwood species and the most commonly used technologies for cogeneration of heat and electricity.
F.01 Acquisition of new practical knowledge, information and skills
COBISS.SI-ID: 4033958For preliminary costs estimation and visualization of production chains a web tool was developed within PER-LES. The tool »WoodChainManager« offers visualization of forest production chains and calculates costs arising during the entire process and is freely available at http://wcm.gozdis.si/.
F.13 Development of new production methods and tools or processes
COBISS.SI-ID: 4019366First issue of newsletter "From science to practice in forest technique" was published after first project period. The main objective of this newsletter was to disseminate the main project results and to present relevant infomationd about modern technologies in the field. Newsletter was printed in 500 copies and is available also on project web page (http://per-les.gozdis.si).
