In 2011, we studied the activity of Bacillus thuringiensis, entomopathogenic nematode Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana and B. brongniartii against the white grubs of four Scarabaeidae species in Gotenica. With the white grubs control we wanted diminish the damage caused by wild boar rooting on grasslands, where white grubs present an important source of proteins. White grubs were the most numerous in the soil with the highest pH reaction, the highest phosphorous and organic matter content.

COBISS.SI-ID: 6882937The report on the results of profesional tasks is consisted from the following topics: 1) control of white grubs in the municipalities Idrija and Logatec; 2) research on efficacy of fungus Beauveria bassiana and its susceptibility to pesticides; 3) collaboration in Slovenian and international commissions and participation in conferences from the field of biological control; 4) research on parasitoids with special emphasis on the control of tomato leaf miner in Slovenia; 5) research on parasitic nematodes of slugs and snails in Slovenia; 6) control of cereal leaf beetle with entomopathogenic nematodes, and 7) special monitoring of chestnut gall wasp.

COBISS.SI-ID: 6657913In a laboratory experiment an efficacy of entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema feltiae in controlling third-stage larvae of common cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha) was studied. The experiment comprised of commercial product Entonem and domestic strain C76. The efficacy of both biological agents was tested at 20 and 25 ºC and at four different concentrations of nematode suspension: 0, 250.000 infective juveniles [IJs]/m2, 500.000 IJs/m2, and 1.000.000 IJs/m2. Higher mortality rate (27 %) of white grubs was obtained for strain C76 rather than for commercial product (20 %). In our experiment the temperature was proved to be the most limiting factor in efficacy of tested biological agents. Meanwhile, mortality rate at 20 ºC was 34 %, only 12 % mortality was achieved at 25 ºC. At highest concentration of nematode suspension and 20 ºC also the highest mortality rate (53 %) with strain C76 was obtained.
