The study on the contamination of grains with mycotoxins from primary production of Slovenia in the period between 2007 and 2009 was described. During this period, in 175 samples of different grains in the first stage, aflatoxin B1, ochratoxin A, zearalenone and fumonisines were investigated using liquid chromatography methods. The presence (mostly in maize samples) of zearalenone and fumonisines was found. Using gas chromatography with mass detection in the second stage, the presence of trichothecenes was investigated. Among eight different trichothecenes, in the most cases the presence of deoxynivalenol was found, followed by 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol and nivalenol. Other trichothecenes were found only in a few samples.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3441530Due to the farming method and composition of the diet the poultry are exposed to various mycotoxins that can adversely affect their health. The adverse effects of aflatoxins, cyclopiazonic acid, sterigmatocystin, ochratoxins, zearalenone, moniliformin, aurofusarin, trichothecenes, fusarochromanone, fumonisins and fusaric acid are presented.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3426170The effect of mycotoxin deoxynivalenol (DON) was studid. The number of cells in apoptosis was investigated on the basis of labeled thymus samples with the ApopTag ® assay. Furthermore, the relationship between the cortex and the medulla of the thymus was evaluated, and found to be statistically significantly altered in the experimental group. Also, in this group the statistically significantly greater number of cells in apoptosis was found. Therefore, the results do show that DON affects the thymus of suckling piglets.
