Intensive agriculture is today recognised as an important source of diffuse pollution witnessed in the case of storm water runoff from fields and farms into the final recipients. With a good farming practice, we do not only protect the waters against the pollution, but also enhance other ecosystem services, among which preserved fertile soil is the most important source for farming. Besides the good farming practices, ecoremediations are recognised as effective measures to slow down the runoff speed, as well as reduce and remove the sources of pollution. Their elaboration is possible in a number of different ecosystem solutions, like draining ditches with multipurpose functions, protecting wetlands, detention ponds, etc. However, their placement within the arable land is often accompanied with constrains due to their spatial needs competing with arable land. In the paper, we would therefore like to present the comprehensive ecosystem services of placing ecoremediations, which role is, besides the prevention of pollution from the agriculture, also in soil formation and conservation, nutrient cycling, carbon sequestration, water quantity balancing and in providing genetic and habitat diversity enabling pollination and natural pest control on fields. The final goal is therefore, achieving better crop production, its protection as well as the protection of the environment.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1158358Brochure presents important information about the state of the water bodies in the northeast part of Slovenia, the impact of nitrates and pesticides on human health, the problem of water pollution from the various polluters, and gives some proposals that can contribute to the improvement of the the status of waters. Brochure is attached as an attachment to this report. Brochure was sent to municipalities located in the mentioned areas and to Goričko Nature Park.
