The purpose of this article is to present the relationship between the physical and cyber space in the context of today's cities. Cyberspace allows action at a distance, which brings noticeable changes in the area of (traditional) urban practices. The result of such an action is, among others, visible in the transfer of certain urban places in cyberspace. In this way information and communication technologies are changing the perception and use of the concept of space, which has an impact on the understanding of the very idea of a city.

Author derives from the time-space independent functioning of information and communication technologies, which are the main means of connecting individuals in contemporary society. In this context, based on the analysis of secondary empirical data, the paper questions size, structure, and (teritoralni) range of today's social networks. In addition, the author presents idea that in a society whose functioning is largely based on information and communication technologies is no longer necessary correlation between the physical and social space, thereby indicating the direction of further development of organizational deteritorialization of society.
The paper presents the opportunities and advantages that integration of sociology in spatial planning can bring. A key author´s argument is that sociologists with its expansive views on space can provide effective, but most of all integrated solutions acceptable to both, individuals which specific action directly concernes, as well as for broader society.
