Comparison between different time integrators when dealing with relatively simple examples is the key for the right decision about the time integrators that will be included in a more complex computer environment for solving pretentious examples. Development of a new integrator and its comparison to the existing ones reassures the knowledge necessary for the achievements of the goals of this project.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5478497The time integrators known from the literature have been developed for the use in different configuration spaces. Most of them are appropriate to used only in the linear spaces and for the additive quantities. However, the rotations form the multiplicative group and the time integrators for rotations must be adapted in the way consistent with the chosen parameterization of rotation. Such adaptations can change the integrator properties. Most of the known algorithms for the time integration of rotations were developed for the rotation matrix and the rotational vector parameterizations of rotation. In this work we have adjusted such time integrator to the rotational quaternion description of rotation. We have shown that the adjusted integrator has similar properties with respect to the original one.
