The Slovenian Association for Mechanics is a member of a Central European Association for Computational Mechanics (CEACM). In 2012 we participated at the CEACM meeting: ECCOMAS 2012, European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering. Participating at such an event increases cooperation inside central European region and globally.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5969505At the thematic conference our approach to the coupled problem of the dynamics of a beam-like structure under moving body was presented. Our specially designed finite-element formulation of the three-dimensional beam based on the weak form of consistency conditions was recognized as a suitable choice among the researchers in this field. Numerical studies showning that the uncoupled models might highly underestimate the response of the structure compared to the present coupled analysis also received a considerable attention.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5899105At the thematic conference in the field of the research project our approach to the reconstruction of rotations from the given angular velocity field was presented. The quaternion representation of rotations was shown to be suitable for both analytical and higher-order numerical solutions. The exact solution serves as a suitable basis for derivation of various numerical methods where as specially suitable are recognized the methods that exactly preserve the unit norm constraint were found. Presentation was well accepted by the audience and several offers for scientific cooperation were proposed on this basis.

COBISS.SI-ID: 6300001This paper presents a consistent approach in dynamic analysis of geometrically exact three-dimensional beams with quaternion description of rotational degrees of freedom. This article is a result of successful cooperation with the researchers at Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics.
