The basic thesis of the contribution is that media reporting about suicides follows the same principles and criteria as reporting about any other social issue in the field of politics, economy or sciences. The attitude of media industry towards public interest is quite similar to the attitude that the farmaceuthical industry has towards the health. There is no responsable media reporting about suicide issues. It rather offers stories instead information. Paradoxically, the only ethical way of how to report about suicide issues is, according to the author, not to report about them at all.

Young people are labelled by the influence of mass media and the values that the media shapes in the social space. Dynamic changes in the environment, technological, political, economic and social, also mark media at local, national and global level. These changesare reflected in media content, which reflects and shapes our social environment. The study deals with questions what is the role of media in shaping the values of young people. What could their role in a wider social space be and how the media implement public interest in a relation to compliance with youth as an important target audience.
