Stylistically marked words in terminological dictionaries remain a challenge because the authors of dictionaries tend to label terms which they feel are somehow marked and should therefore not be used without hesitation when writing scientific/technical texts, but it is difficult for those authors to state clearly how these terms are actually marked. The problem is not a conceptual one but rather a matter of expression, so there is a need to use appropriate labels.

In this paper, we analysed temporally marked terms in contemporary Slovene terminological dictionaries. We found that the labels starinsko, zgodovinsko, prej, nekdaj are not functional here because of their lack of informativeness. On the other hand, it is appropriate to use the label zastarelo, which directs the user from the recently outdated term to the contemporary one, and the use of notes that more precisely define the concept in relation to time and thus offer a reasonably complete definition.

The paper analyses the level of political correctness in modern Slovene terminological dictionaries. We analysed how the dictionaries treat feminine forms of nouns and the use of the label slabšalno. We suggest some solutions which could be used by terminographers in future dictionary projects.
