The paper focuses on evaluating the value of savings of the SmartGrids implementation in Slovenian distribution system network. Additional investments in the distribution system in order to connect distributed generation (DG) sources are needed for the achievement of Slovenia's environmental commitments. SmartGrids concept gives us an option to lower investment costs in the long term. However, additional investments in R&D and new equipment will be needed in the middle term of 10 years. This paper is the result of research in the Slovenian SmartGrids Roadmap (distribution network)

COBISS.SI-ID: 36024325The paper presents a hybrid power filter as a combination of small-rating active filter connected in parallel with an inductor of a shunt, passive LC compensator. The main objective of the passive part is to compensate reactive power, while the active part is used to improve filtering performance and damp the resonance amplifications of current harmonics. As a result, no harmonic resonance occurs under any system condition. The effectiveness of the hybrid compensator is demonstrated on a realistic industrial-network model by means of simulations.

COBISS.SI-ID: 9245012In line with the long-term national energy policy, the share of renewable energy sources is expected to rise. Without an upgrade of traditional distribution networks with the concept of SmartGrids, a cost-effective connection of renewable sources to the network will not be possible. The presented Program defines the necessary research, demonstration projects and mass implementation projects that will enable the introduction of new SmartGird technologies into practice and their optimal utilization. The proposed projects will enable efficient transition to smart distribution networks. With better exploitation of existing infrastructure enabled by new technologies, the required investments can be reduced. According to the economic analysis in the Program, almost 500 million lower total investments are expected with the introduction of SmartGrid concepts, which is a reduction of 11 % when compared to existing network development plans.
