The results on surface modification of bimetal (WTi), multilayer and hard (TiAl/TiN) coatings with different composition, structure and morphology by exposure with short and ultra-short laser pulses are described. Modification is associated with significant change of the absorption coefficient for the laser radiation and thus influences the temperature field in the material and level of properties modification. The following morphological changes were observed : (i) ablation of the materials, (ii) apperance of hydrodinamic features such as resolidified material, and (iii) formation of nano-sized structures. At lower laser fluences formation of laser induced parallel/ripple surface structures with a periodicity which depend on the wavelenght and polarization of the used radiation. Such ripple structure causes the collorization of the film surfaces.
F.09 Development of a new technological process or technology
COBISS.SI-ID: 25629223The influence of the tool steel material, its heat treatment and mechanical and cleaning pretreatment on tribological properties of hard coatings deposited by PVD. We studied the influence of carbide inclusions (concentration, size and distribution) on adhesion and corrosion resistance of PVD-hard coatings.
