The present invention relates to the novel polymers, i.e., octylamine modified polyglutamate and chitosan-graft-poly(L-glutamate) copolymers, which exhibit improved association with GCSF protein drug and formation of nanoparticles (NPs) with high protein loading. A second oppositely charged polymer, i.e. N,N,N-trimethylchitosan, can also complement nanoparticle formation, resulting in particle size from 200-600 nm (for optimized formulation parameters).
