The main contribution of the present work was to study the influence of nano-sized TiO2-treated polyester fabricsć functionalized surface properties on dyeability (TiO2/disperse dye-bath compatibility), colour, and colour strength in comparison to dyed/non-coated polyester. Colloidal dispersions including nano-sized TiO2, coated with different amount of SiO2 (3, 5 or 10%), were incorporated into dye-baths. Polyester fabric (PES) was dyed using three disperse dyes of different chemical structures in two concentration according to exhaustion procedure. In addition, morphological structures of nano-upgraded fabrics were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, and colouration behaviour by colorimetry (determination of CIE L*a*b* colour values). Also, colour differences between dyed and dyed/TiO2-SiO2 were evaluated. From the obtained results, it could be concluded that higher amount of SiO2 contributes to higher agglomeration of TiO2 nanoparticles on the fabric surface; the colour strength is lower, and the total colour differences are larger, mainly on account of higher lightness (L*).

COBISS.SI-ID: 16946966The aim of this research was to evaluate the formation of two industrially-prepared and commercially-available nanoTiO2 colloidal dispersions in different concentrations applied on surface of polyester fabric (PES) according to conventional pad-dry-cure procedure in order to impart self-cleaning properties. Colloidal dispersions were analysed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and the surface morphology of TiO2 modified fabrics using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In addition, the self-cleaning ability of fabrics was investigated through discoloration of two stains, red wine and red beet, under to two types of light sources, i.e. direct day light and artificial UV light, by means of a spectrophotometry. The obtained results show adequate self-cleaning ability of TiO2 modified PES fabrics governed by the type and the concentration of TiO2 suspension applied.

COBISS.SI-ID: 16945430The aim of the presented research was to study durability of coatings of diverse colloidal dispersions of nano-sized TiO2 hybrids in different concentration after several launderings. Morphological changes of the coated fabrics was examined as well as durability/bonding ability of TiO2-hybrids after first, fifth and tenth laundering cycles as a function of diffuse reflectance spectra profiles and UV transmittance measurements. The gained results indicated an outstanding UV protection functionality even after several washing cycles regarding the concentration and the type of colloidal paste.
