COBISS.SI-ID: 34835501Miha Preinfalk is editor of two historical publications, of Kronika, a Review for Slovenian Local History; and of Bilten, published by Slovenian Society for Research of the 18th Century. In 2012 he edited a comprehensive theme issue of Kronika with the title »From the History of Slovenian Castles« and he also organized a conference on that topic that met a wide response. The topic is closely connected with some of the leading humanists of the Slovenian territory, as many of them were noblemen whose castles were functioning as centres of humanism. That holds especially true for the polymath Johann Weikhard Valvasor (Bogenšperk/Wagensberg), the Maecenas Sigmund Zois (Brdo/Egg), and Josef Kalasanz Erberg, whose manor of Dol/ Lustthal was famous for its artistic, collection and to some extent also scientific activities in a broader Central European territory.

COBISS.SI-ID: 263437312The paper, delivered as a plenary talk at the French CAHIER-consortium workshop, presents the methods for manuscript description and for structured text-encoding of their data which are later used for advanced analytical queries. The paper outlines the techniques that we used in our analysis of Early-Modern manuscripts in order to analyse their textual genres and the socio-cultural context of their authors. The method relies on usage of XML encoded data, following the TEI Guidelines, and will be used for the description as well as for Internet presentation of the 17th century Latin manuscript Basis Ethica, written by the humanist J. L. Schönleben.
