We investigated geomorphic expression of the Sava fault, one of the most important active faults in Slovenia. Various geomorphic indicators along the section of the fault between Golnik and Preddvor confirm its dextral transpressive Quaternary activity. Main rivers crossing the Sava fault (Završnica, Begunjščica, Tržiška Bistrica, Kokra, Reka, Kamniška Bistrica) are dextral offset for 1.3–5.4 km. Local streams between Golnik and Kokra are offset for 100–200 m across the fault. Using age of Quaternary surfaces in the area of Kokra fan sedimentation from the literature and measured Kokra fan apexes offset of 1–1.5 km we estimated fault slip rate of 0.6–4.1 mm/a between 365 ka and 1.75 Ma BP. This estimation agrees with long-term geologically estimated slip rate of 1.0–5.0 mm/a for the last 20–6 MA BP and GPS-derived recent slip rate of 1.0 ± 0.5 mm/a.

In this paper, we attempt a multiscalar analysis of the Maharski prekop archaeological site, connecting the landscape context, temporal dynamics, and spatial organisation with the composition of the artefact assemblage, the shapes, sizes and technological composition of the pottery, and traces of activities in the form of food residues on pottery. The pottery assemblage from Maharski prekop is characterised by a wide variation in vessels. This canbe explained by the non-specialised use of vessels, where they were deliberately designed to be able to perform a series of different functions, which is supported by the technological analysis of fabrics and the wide rangeof identified foodstuffs, interesting contexts with an abundance of anthropomorphic figurines are presented and discussed.

Climate and weather conditions in the Slovenian lands from the time before regular and continuous meteorological measurements began are but poorly known. Investigatiosn in this field began as late as the beginning of the 17th century; particularly the second half of this century, when the polymath Janez Vajkard Valvasor and the Ljubljana chronicler Janez Gregor Dolničar were active, is one of the periods which is sufficiently documented in historical sources as concerns the weather and the climate of the time. In spite of certain limitations in using these sources, by means of additional infomration it is possible to present satisfactorily the weather and the climate of that time and their effects in social environment.
