In the article, we suggest a method of decision-making about the number and composition of functional regions in the state. The method considers the economic variable of the average monthly gross earnings per capita in the functional region (the variability between regions should be minimal) as well as the guidelines for the population size of the regions. The method was applied to analyse regions at NUTS 2 and NUTS 3 levels in Slovenia in 2000-2010. In our application we are looking for equally developed regions (with the smallest disparities between regions possible).

Grubbström's well-developed MRP Theory has been mostly used in modeling production processes. Global supply chains also contain distribution, consumption and recycling processes. For this reason theory was recently further extended to incorporate all kinds of activities. Such extended model, which consists of four main sub-systems, is closed and can be used for severaldetailed analyses. Since the importance of reverse logistics is increasing, this paper will focus on parameters which determine Net Present Value of the whole system, depending on geographical location of recycling facilities. We will show how lead times, transportation costs, setup costs and price of labor and energy of individual location contribute to overall NPV of the system.

Industrial workers are living increasingly longer and according to this phenomenon retirement age in national pension schemes of developed countries are increasing. But many industrial workers are not able to work up to the increased retirement age. This is influencing decreasing social security of industrial worker, increasing their anxiety regarding the future and influencing quality and timing of production processes. To solve this problem the EU Member States should put in place supplementary occupational pensions schemes which would compensate for depreciated ability of work during the period of increased retirement age or to invest in the working places so, that elderly are able to continue their work without negative influence on the results of a supply chain. Te paper is introducing the model which can be used as bases for negotiations between employers and employees to keep the production on the same quality level and to satisfy both parties. The dynamic net present value approach is used. The adaptable defined contribution pension model is assumed where contributions to pension scheme could be combined with the investments in ergonomics. Trade of between investments in working conditions, which prolong working period for aging workers and contributions to supplementary occupational pension schemes, is suggested on the bases of presented model. Extended paper has been accepted for publication in journal A'':Technol. econ. dev. econ. (Spausd.). [Print ed.], dec. 2013, letn. 19.
