A brief historical overview of industrialization in Slovenia, which began to develop rapidly with the construction of the first railways, is presented. The review begins with a period before the World War II, when small and scattered factories prevailed , which hindered rapid development. Review of the period between the World War II and the independence of Slovenia is done. In this period arosed major factories mainly from machine building and metal industries . Historical review is completed by the state after independence, when many former leading factories due to the loss of the Yugoslav market were in crisis, which has led some companies to collapse. Conclusion is done by a presentation of the companies that are holders of our industry today and state of engineering industry among the Slovenian industry.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12169755Many of mechanical systems need to operate under demanding working conditions, such as high loads, high speeds, high temperatures and aggressive environment. Restrictions imposed by current legislation already requires introduction of new catalysis systems, making production more expensive and increasing vehicle weight. Moreover, in the future, the use of S- and P- based compounds, which are key-elements in preventing wear and maintaining low friction will be extremely reduced and/or abandoned. These demands and focus on developing new concepts of successful boundary lubrication are becoming urgent in recent years due to economy and efficiency, as well as due to pollution and emission issues. Accordingly, many problems related to boundary lubrication and boundary films need to be radically improved and resolved in very near future.
