In the article a prestressed hollow core slab is analysed. Fire resistance is estimated in accordance with the Eurocode, i.e. in two separate analyses, (i) the thermal and (ii) the mechanical analysis. With the thermal analysis, the time dependent temperature distribution across the cross-section of the slab is determined. Here the effect of the closed air cells is considered as well. We also assume that the slab is exposed to a standard fire curve (ISO 843). With the mechanical analysis which follows the stress and strain state of the slab subject to an increasing temperature due to fire is obtained. The computational failure indicates when fire resistance of the slab is reached. Typically, a rapid growth of viscous creep of steel represents the limit resistance of the slab.
