The important impact of these conferences is on the possible translation of basic research to applied clinical studies. By this it enhances the transition from laboratory research and the patients' needs, what reflects its applied aspect. The Conferences also contribute to the networking and increase the mobility among Slovenian groups as well as with the international research teams. This time the Conference was joined wit the organistion of regular anual Conference EORTC – European Organization of Research and Treatment of Cancer, section for Pathobiology. Annual meeting of this group, comprising invited members only, took place in 2013 in organization of Prod.Janko Kos and i Tamara Lah Turnšek, who are members since 1998. Prof. Lah Turnšek also had a lecture besides being an coorganizer entitled: Tumour stem cell markers as prognostic indicators in cancer : 8th EORTC PathoBiology group annual meeting, Portorož, April, 2013.
