In the guest lecture at the international conference on Carthusian Order at Belley (Ain), France, the leader of the post-doc project, basing on her thorough knowledge of the material, presented the vast and so far insufficiently investigated field of architectural sculpture of all early charterhouses, founded in Europe in the 11th, 12th and in the beginning of the 13th centuries. The research has shown that the cases of rich architectural ornamentation, which, in the Carthusian environment, is quite surprising, can be interpreted by the very role of the founders or patrons.

COBISS.SI-ID: 31960365The lecture gave an evaluation of revitalisation project for Žiče Monastery, planning radical changes of the image of the oldest Middle-European charterhouse. Using examples from abroad, the author pointed out the inappropriateness of the restoration plans and emphasized the urgency of interdisciplinary cooperation which alone could lead to better solutions for renewal and presentation of this Early-Carthusian monument of European importance. More suitable proposals are demanded by the historic role and significance of Žiče Monastery, which was directly connected with Jurklošter Charterhouse.
