The paper was presented at the conference Monastery and Art, which took place 25 April 2012 in the premises of ZRC SAZU. The project holder presented the reasons for the patrocinium of Saint Mauritius, who replaced the more commonly used Saint John the Baptist as the patron saint of Carthusian monasteries. The paper presented the close relations between the selection of patrocinium and the Andechs' and Babenbergs' political motives for it.

COBISS.SI-ID: 32992557The lecture reflects upon the role of Jurklošter charterhouse in the European history of the Carthusians. Above all, it emhasized the close relation with the renowned Central-European political personas, among which Leopold VI of Babenberg and Eckbert of Andechs had the most important role. Saint Mauricius was introduced as the patron of the church, this testifies to the close relations of Jurklošter charterhouse with the Andechs as the one of the most influencal aristocratic families in Central Europe in the High Middle Ages.

COBISS.SI-ID: 33304365In this outstanding guest lecture at the international conference on Carthusian Order at Belley (Ain), France, the authoress, basing on her thorough knowledge of the material and the comparative artistic monuments, presented the vast and so far insufficiently investigated field of architectural sculpture of all early charterhouses, founded in Europe in the 11th, 12th and in the beginning of the 13th centuries, and its role in the context of High Medieval monastic architecture and architectural sculpture. This study by project leader candidate is the first research of this kind. The research has shown that the cases of rich architectural ornamentation, which, in the Carthusian environment, is quite surprising, can be interpreted by the very role of the founders or patrons.
