We developed the model for predicting the potential sanitary felling of Norway spruce due to bark beetles under different climate change scenarios. The model identifies the areas with Norway spruce that are under greater risks due to climate change. Therefore, it enables us to better prepare and plan the mitigation process when considering climate change impacts on forests in Slovenia.

We developed the model which purpose is assessing the potential sanitary felling due to insects in forest. Trends of the sanitary felling due to insects were calculated for three climate change scenarios until the end of 21st century. The results of the model show the decrease in optimistic scenario and the increase of potential susceptible areas to damages due to insects in mean and pessimistic scenario. The intensity of potential damages to forest due to insects would likely shift towards north and higher elevation.
