Menthor of diploma (BSc) work of Katja Milavec. Diploma topic is based on geochemical and hydrogeological properties of groundwater and is focused on GIS analysis of these properties, which are also used in the postdoc project. The studied area comprises Savinja valley, which has a large potential for explitation of groundwater potential with water heat pumps. A new approach has been used for suitability assessment of the area with GIS, and considers several input layers (groundwater quality and quantity, protection zones etc.), with the final outcome being the suitability map of this area for exploitation. Such an approach is entirely suitable for application in other areas, regardless of the studied area, with minor modifications are necessary for use in other types of rocks (karst).

COBISS.SI-ID: 919390Program XLS2PHRQ© generates an input file for program PHREEQC© from a selected geochemical analysis data in MS Excel© (*.xlsx). An example of XLSX file is included in the ZIP file. The worksheet name should be "analize", decimal points should be used instead of commas. Values below the detection limit ((LOD) are treated as text and must be corrected in PHREEQC. Source code available by request. Work was supported by Slovenian Research Agency, number of research project Z1-3670.

COBISS.SI-ID: 956766In the study material for the course Geological research methods, some contents are presented to the students, which consider the measurements of groundwater and determination of their geochemical composition (this is related to the results of the postdoc project). This course belongs to the new Bologna study for the program Geology, and the course is obligatory for all students on the BSc level. Contents of this course form a basis for the course Hydrogeochemistry (on MSc study of Geology), which is directly related to measurements and interpretation of geochemistry of groundwaters (topic of postdoc project).
