Robust and reliable methods are needed to produce quantitative biological data. We have developed a high throughput target amplification method for analysis of low DNA content samples in combination with DNA microarray. The method was first applied in GMO detection but it can be transferred also to other fields of research. NAIMA is applied in the FP7 project Q-detect and the present ARRS project.

We have developed and described real-time PCR methods for detection and identification of three different Candidatus Phytoplasma species from the 16Sr-X (apple proliferation – AP) group. The described methods enable fast, specific and very sensitive diagnostic test for phytoplasm in fruit tree. The developed methods have been published in a scientific paper, and are already being used in diagnostic procedures. All methods are the most sensitive up to now in comparison with conventional PCR and multiplex real-time PCR assays for detection of ‘Ca. p. mali’ or ‘Ca. p. pyri’.
