Cerebral palsy (CP) is well known developmental disorder. The most recent definition describes CP as a group of disorders of movement and posture, causing activity limitation. An important step in the process of (re)habilitation is evaluation of functional abilities of an individual. To be as accurate as possible in the evaluation of functioning, proper measurement instruments have to be used. There are many different measurement tools for children with cerebral palsy, several of them are presented in the article.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1102697All children with special needs are included in the regular school program, when their general cognitive abilities are satisfactory. They are integrated in the education system on the basis of accurate assessment of abilities in different areas of functioning (from movement, to reading, writing ...) and prepared adaptations for the implementation of the school program. But they are often confronted with problems that result from the ignorance of their disease, ability to function and lack of experience in adapting to school. These problems are very diverse, from too much writing, unmodified examinations (oral instead of written tests) to fear from the involvement of children in sporting activities. We know that sporting activity has a beneficial effect on the overall development of the individual and the same is true for children with special needs. In the section of the manual are therefore specially introduced basic principles of integration of children with special needs in relation to various restrictions, which are characteristic of the most common chronic diseases. For professional school employees it will be easier to implement tailored training program and the children will be more successful and satisfied.
