This research present an innovative approach to the vibration fatigue simulations. The basic concept as well as a simplified computer program are presented. Vibration fatigue is researched because of the need in the Slovenian automotive industry for advanced structural analysis that would enable the Slovenian manufacturers to increase the added value of the products while at the same time decrease the CO2 emissions.

In contrast to the mass and stiffness matrices the identification of damping is a much harder task. A new approach to the damping identification is presented here. From the point of view of this project it is worth to point out that the damping significantly influences the accumulation of thermal energy as well as the amplitude response at vibration fatigue.
