Folowing the philosophical line of thought from Hume and Leopold to Richard Rorty, the monograph tries to uncover which ethical model for human attitude towards the natural world would be the most appropriate. It finds this model in ethics based on the Hume's idea of 'moral sense' and with the help of Leopold's 'Land Ethics' extended to non-human moral subjects. The text critically examines some other possibilities of ethical extension, based on the search for 'common characteristics' of subjects that try to be included in the moral universe.

The leading ideas are the society and the university which both rapidly change. New situation in the society radically interfere with the fortress of knowledge. Does the university resign with it to its fundamental mission which is represented in its autonomy, the academic freedom and some other aspects? The discussion on the sustainability at the university thematises numerous aspects of that dilemma. The society can not afford the subsistence of the university because of some external influences. The university is an important link of identity of the society as well as of the students, but it urgently needs a change. The so called knowledge society is not a unique goal; the university has, besides the education, to shape the dialogical space, equality between sexes, social justice, ecological integrity and welfare of all living systems on the planet.

This original article offers a critical view of the question of gender hierarchy within the Catholic Church, calling into question and putting under a microscope the patriarchal-tinted character of the Church’s system. The article deals with the issue of gradual patriarchalisation of Christianity from the standpoint of Christian feminist theology. In this sense it represents a significant contribution not only to the Slovene social-research sphere, but also to international circles. The article is thus the basis for an understanding and classification of the phenomenon of theological ecofeminism and the phenomenon of women' s spirituality and one of the most important elements within the context of women' s inter-religious dialogue.
