The article published in the national hamradio magazine, was created after an invitation of vast interested community, where also several project members collaborate. The topics of solar impact to short-wave (HF) communication for establishing overseas connections showed to be very important. Most users of HF communications observe the progress of solar cycles and the accompanying effects that timely appear in close vicinity to the major events. Therefore, the article gives a comprehensive schematic overview from the activities' origin to variety of observed effects to the limiting frequencies (MUF, LUF) as well as other areas (GNSS, distribution systems, air traffic).
F.01 Acquisition of new practical knowledge, information and skills
COBISS.SI-ID: 9594196The scientific paper presents a polynomial model of magnetic declination for the area of Slovenia. The model enables calculations of magnetic declination that are, due to its local characteristics, more accurate than the results of the global models. In many modern navigation systems a good quality model of magnetic declination is necessary, whether as a replacement or a supplement to satellite navigation systems and inercial systems. Consequently, acquired project knowledge about solar impact to the magnetics and GNSS has significantly enriched the knowledge in the areas of navigation.
F.10 Improvements to an existing technological process or technology
COBISS.SI-ID: 263070720The paper, published at the conference The Internet of Things and Smart Spaces in St. Petersburg, Russia, presented the possibility of using intelligent IoT platform for the integration of various data sources into useful scenarios for the Internet of Things (IoT). Its purpose is twofold: to support fusion of large amounts of data, irrespective of their source or structure and to provide users or devices with semantically analyzed and enriched data according to their needs and context. Using the platform, users are able to access enriched data, receive warnings and notifications (e.g. solar alerts) about events recognized by the system. Data sources identified in present project J2-3625, form a part of the platform’s input that reflects results in many areas of the information society.
