We presented the results of the research conducted in the scope of postdoctoral project at the 6th CFGBC Symposium. The results were obtained by ChIP on chip method, comparing the expression of genes in 1C6 and 1C6.AIRE cell lines. We showed a number of upregulated transcripts in 1C6.AIRE cells, but no consensus DNA binding sites could be determined.

COBISS.SI-ID: 28533209Red pigment, isolated from bacterium Vibrio sp., belongs to a group of prodigiosin-like compounds. Bacterial prodiginines have a broad spectrum of activity, and are known for their antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal, antimalarial, anticancer, immunosuppressive and cytotoxic effects. We showed that the pigment has limited cytotoxic effect on primary, non cancerous B cells. No caspase-3 activity was observed. On the other hand, we showed that the red pigment has a strong cytotoxic effect on cancerous B cells of NS0 cell line. This effect was was observed already after 4h of exposure and at lower concentrations of the pigment. We have also detected capase-3 activity in NSO cells after 24h of exposure to the pigment. Our results show that the red pigment has greater cytotoxic effect on cancerous NSO cells and its potential use as anticancerous agent will be further investigated.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2951816Co-mentor of diploma project, which was awarded with Prešern award of Biotechnical Faculty. In this research we identified a novel ligand for the activation of chicken TLR15 receptor, which was not identified so far. We found that the activation of chicken TLR15 is caused by the binding of diacylated lipopeptide.
